Academic Program 1

DOCTOR OF VETERINARY MEDICINE (DVM) is a 6-year curricular program designed to produce well-balanced veterinarians, knowledgeable in animal production, welfare and One Health.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)

The following PEOs are applied to graduates under the DVM Curriculum based on CHED Memo No. 1 s 2018:
01

DVM graduates are globally competent in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control of diseases of different animal species,

02

DVM graduates are globally competent to formulate, communicate, and implement programs in animal health, animal production and health management, food safety, public health, animal welfare, and environmental protection and preservation,

03

DVM graduates are achievers, team players, and leaders in the profession or related fields of practice,

04

DVM graduates are capable of handling and conducting research in pharmaceutical, biotechnological, and other industrial fields, and

05

DVM graduates are capable of imparting knowledge, and conducting training and extension services.

Program Outcomes

By the time of graduation, students of the program have the ability to:
a

Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice;

b

Effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino;

c

Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams;

d

Act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibilities;

e

Preserve and promote “Filipino historical and cultural heritage”;

f

Generate and share knowledge relevant to specific fields in the study of agriculture;

g

Formulate and implement agricultural development plans and programs;

h

Understand and apply biological principles and mechanisms underlying animal production, health and diseases;

i

Apply diagnostic methods and interpret results for accurate disease diagnosis;

j

Prescribe and implement treatment to remedy diseases and abnormalities of animals or prescribe termination of cases, as necessary;

k

Develop and formulate plans and programs for prevention and control of diseases;

l

Design and engage in social entrepreneurial ventures in the field of practice; and

m

Conduct research on animal production, health and environment.

ABOUT

MASTER OF VETERINARY STUDIES (MVSt) is a 2-year post-graduate degree for veterinarians designed to specialize in either Veterinary Public Health or Veterinary Preventive Medicine.

Academic Program 1

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)

MVSt graduates are equipped with advanced knowledge and practical skills such as veterinary public health and preventive medicine through coursework,

MVSt graduates are globally competent to formulate, communicate, and implement programs in animal health, animal production and health management, food safety, public health, animal welfare, and environmental protection and preservation,

03

MVSt graduates have developed interpersonal and organizational skills toward leadership within the profession and the community to assist the national government in implementing programs on animal health and control of zoonotic diseases affecting public health,

MVSt graduates are capable of handling and conducting research in preventive veterinary medicine, public health, biotechnological, and other industrial fields, and

05

MVSt graduates can impart knowledge through the conduct of training and extension services.

Admission

Aspiring MVSt students must meet the following requirements:
  • Must be a DVM graduate
  • Must have a GPA of at least 2.50 or better
