Two CVSM Faculty Members Presented Researches Abroad

Two faculty members of the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine, Dr. Darlene Fe P. Castro and Dr. Fredelon B. Sison presented researches in Vietnam and Germany, respectively last September 2016.
Dr. Darlene Fe P. Castro presented a PCARRD-funded research entitled "Antimicrobial Resistance Genes in Bacterial Pathogens from Swine and Poultry" during the Interuniversity Program - Molecular Biology (IPMB) Alumni Convention at Can Tho University, Can Tho City, Vietnam last September 18-21, 2016.

The said event was organized and sponsored by Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), VLIR-UOS and Can Tho University. Dr. Castro is an alumna of VUB and a recipient of VLIR-UOS scholarship from 2012 to 2014 for her graduate studies.
Another faculty member, Dr. Fredelon B. Sison, successfully presented two posters during the First Joint International Conference of the Association of Institutions for Tropical Veterinary Medicine (AITVM) and the Society of Tropical Veterinary Medicine (STVM) at the Humboldt University Berlin, Germany last September 4-8, 2016.
The two posters presented by Dr. Sison are: "Prevalence and Antimicrobial Resistance of Salmonella spp. Isolated from Chicken Eggs Sold in Wet Markets of Nueva Ecija, Philippines" (CHED-funded research) and "Spike (S) Gene Mutations and Assessment of Susceptibility in Intestinal Porcine Epithelial Cell Lines 1 and J2 (IPEC-1 and IPEC-J2) of a Vero Cell Adapted Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV)" (supported in part by the Philippine-American Educational Foundation and VMRI and VDL, Iowa State University, USA).---DFPCastro
