Tarlac City, Tarlac- Five (5) faculty members from the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine-Central Luzon State University were given the infrequent opportunity to observe the day-to-day farm business operations of the Charoen Pokphand Foods Inc. in their "Getting to Know CPF" experience last July 25 to 26, 2019.
The two-day affair was intended to introduce the Thailand-based company to selected representatives from top-tier universities with the ultimate goal of forging a longer relationship and partnership with CPF.
The 15 participants came from CLSU, University of the Philippines- Los Baños (UPLB) and Cebu Technological University (CTU). The CLSU delegates were the CVSM Dean Dr. Virginia M. Venturina, Dr. Gemerlyn G. Garcia and the CVSM Department Chairpersons, Dr. Rodolfo F. Medrano, Dr. Ronalie B. Rafael and Dr. Reginaldo V. Abuyuan.
The event was coordinated by Mr. Wacharapong Somthong and was graced by no less than the CPF Vice Chairman Mr. Sakol Cheewakoset. The chief component of the visit was a tour to CPF's feed mill and poultry and swine farms.
This engagement was among the agreed provisions in the Memorandum of Agreement to be signed by CVSM and CPF later this year which include clinical internship and scholarships for students, awards for graduating students and extension programs, among others.
