The College of Veterinary Science and Medicine-CLSU's internationalization efforts continued with delegation of three junior clinicians in The ASEAN Veterinary Volunteer Project (AAVP) 2019 presented by the Kasetsart University, Thailand and Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, Nong Lam University, Vietnam.
Nichole Anne Dela Cruz, Jerard Angelo Rayala and Christian Kenneth Soliven were among the among the four country representatives from the Philippines (The other one is from Central Mindanao University).
A total of 50 students from Vietnam (Vietnam National University of Agriculture), Thailand (Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya), Cambodia (Royal University of Agriculture), Myanmar (University of Veterinary Science), Laos (National University of Laos), Indonesia (Bogor Agricultural University), China (Yangzhou University), Taiwan (National Chung Hsing University of Agriculture), Canada (University of Prince Edward Island), France (University of Lyon), The Netherlands (Utrecht University) and USA (University of Texas A&M) participated in the program.
During the three-week engagement from June 16 to July 6, 2019, they were exposed in a myriad of activities including lectures, presentation, discussion, site visits, field activities and many cultural events. AVVP 2019 was designed to promote a better understanding of veterinary profession and practices, to foster the sense of public mind and to propagate friendship and networking among veterinary students of ASEAN member countries. All expenses incurred during the program were covered in full by the host institutions.
With this recent undertaking, CVSM hopes to sign a Memorandum of Agreement between CLSU and KU to facilitate and strengthen future collaborations and exchanges in the future. –Marvin Bryan S. Salinas
