The College of Veterinary Science and Medicine holds its 2nd Faculty Echo Seminar on August 28, 2013 at the Veterinary Education Information Network, CVSM.
Dr. Noraine P. Medina, Associate Professor of the Department of Morphophysiology, discussed about Animal Welfare in the Veterinary Curriculum.
Dr. Medina serves as Key-Driver of the Advanced Concepts in Animal Welfare (ACAW) Program-Philippines of the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA). She has attended several trainings and seminars on animal welfare in various countries abroad, which were sponsored by WSPA.
Dr. Fely V. Manaois II, Instructor of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, gave a talk about the Good Animal Husbandry Practices (GAHP). Dr. Manaois has served as a National Trainer of GAHP auditors since 2009 and as one of the GAHP auditors as well. She has been participating in several activities for the GAHP like seminar awareness for stakeholders, training and workshops of auditors, and actual farm audits, which are conducted in different parts of the country.
The echo seminar was conducted as part of the continuing professional education and development of the faculty of the College and other veterinarians. The one-day affair was participated in by seventeen veterinarians in the academe including Dr. Romeo S. Gundran, dean of CVSM, who graced the opening program. -FVMANAOIS II, CVSM
