Students of the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine brought laurels to the university again by winning two national quiz contests and taking three first runner-up awards in three other contests held during the 10th National Congress of Veterinary Medicine Student (NCVMS) on February 11 – 15, 2014 at the College of Veterinary Medicine - University of the Philippines (CVM- UPLB).
The College of Veterinary Science and Medicine proves its excellence again. In the recently concluded 81st Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA) Scientific Conference and Annual Convention held at The Legend Hotel, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, CVSM faculty member and Associate Professor, Dr. Noraine P. Medina, was awarded the Outstanding Veterinarian in Education.
Dr. Gundran, dean of the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine served as guest speaker and delivered an inspirational message during the PRC oath-taking ceremony of new successful veterinarians held at the Manila Hotel on November 3, 2013. Dr. Fredelon B. Sison has reported back to CVSM after his 2-year study leave to pursue Master of Veterinary Public Health (MVPH). His MVPH program started on October 1, 2011 and ended in September 26, 2013. He obtained his degree from both the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Freie Universitaet Berlin (FVM-FUB), Germany and Veterinary Public Health Centre for Asia Pacific (VPHCAP), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Chiang Mai University (FVM-CMU), Thailand.
CVSM-CLSU graduate made it to the top once again in the Veterinary Licensure Exam (VLE) after 11 years. Felkins Miguel Macabitas topped the list of passers with 88.20 percentage score, followed by Gian Ato Dizon Canlas, with 85.86. Macabitas was the fourth CVSM-CLSU graduate that made it to the top after Dr. Jim G.Francisco topped the VLE in 1998, Dr. Ritchie D. Candelaria in 2000 and Dr. Darwin G. Ramos in 2001.
In realization of the strategic plan of the university for internationalization, the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine (CVSM), joined recently three well known international veterinary school organizations. It was formally accepted as affiliate member of the Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) last October 1.

The CLSU College of Veterinary Science and Medicine emerged 2nd place in the Poultry Quiz Contest held at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia on August 31, 2013. The CLSU team was composed of Jaypee Abenoja, Marvin Salinas, and Mann Cyron Sarmiento. They received cash prize and a plaque.
Some 130 people joined the Fun Run held at the Central Luzon State University on August 9, 2013. The fun run started at the CLSU main gate and finished at the University Grandstand. The event was organized by the Rodeo Club Philippines with the aim of promoting active lifestyle and a healthy CLSU community.

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine student Errol Jay Balagan will graduate magna cum laude on April 15, 2011 topping this year’s graduates of Central Luzon State University totalling to 719. He is the third magna cum laude graduate produced by the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine. The first is Alona Torres-Badua in 1993 and the second is Michael Hernandez in 1996. Balagan, who graduated cum laude in 2009 with the degree Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry, earned a grade point average (GPA) of 1.45.
TWO VETERINARY medicine graduates of the Central Luzon State University landed in the top 10 of the Aug. 26-28 Veterinary licensure examination. Dr. Clarissa Yvonne J. Domingo, a faculty of the College of Veterinary Science and Medicine, has received several awards from professional bodies and institutions after she finished her doctoral degree from the University of the Philippines at Manila last April 22, 2010. During the recognition ceremonies, Dr. Domingo received a plaque of recognition from the UP College of Public Health, SEAMEO-Trop Med Regional Center for Public Health, Hospital Administration and Environmental & Occupational Health for the highest academic performance in the Doctor of Public Health program, Class 2009-2010. The next series of awards followed thereafter.
The CLSU-College of Veterinary Science and Medicine and the Hokkaido University Research Center for Zoonosis (RCZC) Control entered into a memorandum of understanding last December 9. The signing ceremony was held at the Philippine Carabao Center main office on the CLSU campus. President Ruben C. Sevilleja and Dean Romeo S. Gundran headed the party composed of CVSM faculty members. Likewise, an MOU between PCC and Hokkaido University was signed during the occasion.
The College of Veterinary Science and Medicine (CVSM) will sign separate Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with two foreign institutions to establish academic cooperation among them. Signatories will be Dr. Ruben C. Sevilleja, CLSU president; Dr. Romeo S. Gundran, CVSM dean; and Dr. Hiroshi Kida, director of Hokkaido University Research Center for Zoonosis Control. Signing an MOU will be done on December 5, 2009 at CLSU. The purpose of the MOU is to allow the parties to jointly develop academic, educational, and research cooperation, associated with and limited to the field of public health microbiology, emerging and reemerging diseases, zoonoses and other related areas in health sciences.
